Аннотация

Background: Cardiovascular disease is key reason to hospitalization and death in people who suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD). In these people, the cardiovascular disease marker C-reactive protein (CRP) is also a death predictor. Early detection of CKD patients with elevated CRP and the application of cardiovascular risk factor therapy reduce the ensuing mortality. Objective: To measure serum CRP levels in CKD patients and identify related factors.  Methods: This case-control study included 20 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and 10 control persons without CKD. Serum levels of CRP, white blood cells (WBC), Glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and ESR were assessed. Cases and controls were contrasted. Significance was attributed to P values less than 0.05.  Results: In the CKD group, the CRP value was significantly more significant than in the control group (P < 0.01). The average CRP in patients was higher than that in the control group (2053±1.51 (mg/L) in patients) (4.90±0.48 mg/L in the control group), and the Glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) negatively correlated with CRP. On multivariate analysis, low glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was evidence of high serum CRP. P ≥0.01. WBC and ESR were high in patients compared to the control group (9.96±0.78(10^3/μl) and (32.50±5.01), respectively. Conclusion: Patients with chronic renal disease are at a higher risk of cardiovascular events. Early implementation of interventions to reduce weight and cure dyslipidemia is crucial for minimizing this risk.
